Keynote Address - Building a Secure Foundation for Operations
8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Regardless of the solution you employ, ample security measures can be the difference between operational success and catastrophic crisis. To set the stage for the conference, Stephen Coty, Director of Threat Research at Alert Logic, will share how you can best protect your network from a cyber-attack, whether you use wireless, fiber or VSAT. Why does the oil and gas sector attract more hackers than other private industries? Are some networks more susceptible to an attack than others? What are best practices the oil and gas sector should be following to ensure secure transmission of data to the control centers?

Speaker: Stephen Coty, Director of Threat Research, Alert Logic

Blending the Old with the New - Modernizing Legacy Systems
11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Is new technology necessarily better technology? Many factors are involved when deciding whether to upgrade existing services and applications or implement new systems – crews may be well trained with the system already in place; spare parts for the existing infrastructure may be more easily accessible than new parts; additional costs and resources needed to integrate the new technology with current technology on the site may outweigh the benefits of keeping legacy systems in place. How can you effectively manage costs and crew resources when upgrading your equipment? What is required to ensure a seamless integration between legacy and new systems?

Moderator: Rod Wilkins, Vice President, Business Development/Partner, Twin Eagle Consulting
Speakers: Philippe Flichy, DOF Technologies Advisor, Baker Hughes
Jamey Hilleary, Director of Marketing, Elecsys
Jose Antonio Rico, President, ESEI

Licensing and Regulations - Federal and Local Laws for Your Sites
1:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Licensing requirements and regulations vary depending on where you are drilling, so it is just as important to know what is going on in Washington D.C. as it is in your control center. This presentation will address FCC regulations and regional licensing requirements that influence your day-to-day operations.

Speakers: Greg Kunkle, Partner, Keller and Heckman
Wes Wright, Associate, Keller and Heckman

Managing Efficiency and Controlling Costs through Deployment of Communications

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
As the first crews on the ground, you are setting up communications to your drill site to monitor arrival of equipment, ensure the safety of the area and deploy your crew where they can be most effective. These sites are in remote areas often lacking basic infrastructure needed for a communications network, including utilities and wireless coverage. Not to mention, each stage of the drilling pad, from drilling to completion to production, has different communications requirements. What design and deployment considerations must be made for each stage of the well’s life cycle respectively, and how is this varying by region? How can communications help you increase efficiency of your crew through proper allocation of their time? What collaboration efforts can be made within your organization as well as with your providers to ensure the best allocation of resources with minimal expense and disruption at your site?

Moderator: Steve Hill, SeniorTelecom Engineer, Lockard and White
